Fall 2024 President’s Town Hall
Leading her first Town Hall conversation as Boston University’s 11th president, Melissa L. Gilliam spoke to a packed GSU Metcalf Ballroom and a wider audience streaming the event online October 16. Gilliam spoke about her first three months as president and her efforts to meet as many people as possible across the BU community, and she outlined some of her key strategic priorities. Also presenting: Provost Gloria Waters, Kelly Nee, safety, security, and preparedness officer, BUPD Chief Robert Lowe, and Derek Howe, senior vice president for operations. The event concluded with a conversation moderated by Doug Most, executive editor overseeing BU Today, with Professors Muhammad Zaman and Nancy Harrowitz, who head separate working groups in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas and the retaliatory attack by Israel in Gaza.
