  1. Thanks for these inspiring stories! I am also a Chinese student and I never got the chance to go back home since I started the study here in 2018 Fall. I later realized that it is a type of ethical cost of studying abroad (or upward mobility. I need to refer to Jennifer Morton’s book here).
People here are very kind and supportive. And I appreciate all the help and support I received. However, I still would like to point out the economic and political tensions that international students have to deal with… Anyway, let’s hope for a better world and thanks again for the article.

  2. Thank you to these brave students for sharing their stories. Many of my Chinese students’ lives got complicated and stressful during the pandemic. It must be so hard to be away from family for so long. I’m glad they have found some way to keep going here in Boston.

  3. Feel the same! I am a Chinese student who just arrived in Boston in this September. Although the epidemic has subsided recently, the sudden loneliness of being away from family and old friends still makes me feel lost sometimes. The biggest feeling, like these three terriers, is beginning to observe oneself. Thanks to BU’s inclusive atmosphere and friendly professors and classmates, I feel I am gradually integrating here.
