William R. Mitchell
William R. Mitchell (GRS’57) of Shawnee, Okla., writes, “Greetings, salutations, and thanks to you all, to the many fellows, students, colleagues, and mentors who have blessed my life. Being now over 91 years old, and anticipating, in the normal and appropriate course of human events, a forthcoming reassignment of career, I want to give heartfelt deserved recognition of your contributions to my life heretofore, and my promise of continuing appreciation from my new abode, yet to be announced but surely impending. I hope to keep in touch.” Born on a sharecropper’s farm in Oklahoma’s Lincoln County, William is a professor emeritus and former dean of arts and sciences at Oklahoma Baptist University and an ordained minister and former pastor serving in churches in Oklahoma and Colorado. He is also the author of three novels, three collections of poetry, two memoirs, seven works of nonfiction, and three plays. Write to William at the Primrose Retirement Community, 1905 N. Bryan Ave., Apt 231, Shawnee, OK 74804.
