Sean Smith

Sean Smith (COM’83) of Newton, Mass., published his debut novel, Transformation Summer (Atmosphere Press, 2023), in which a man remembers the summer he was 16 and his life seemed to be falling apart. “His parents are on the verge of divorce, he’s estranged from his friends and bitter and angry,” Sean writes. “His mother then drags him along with her to a unique personal-growth camp, a trip he is sure will be a disaster—but it’s like nothing he expected, and years later, he’s still processing what went on during those two weeks, and beyond.” Transformation Summer received a Literary Titan Gold Book Award in the summer of 2023.
