Mike Moran
Mike Moran (CFA’66) of North Port, Fla., writes, “Perhaps the jazz music members of the Class of 1966 are too blasé to report our activities; after all, we were an ignored group at BU. Still, we organized and booked our BU Concert Jazz Band, a 16-piece student-led ensemble. Some of us got off-campus gigs while we were students too, and I’m sure there are others besides me who are still playing gigs today. Besides leading a quartet with my wife, Kitty Moran, in Florida, I worked with jazz royalty like Teo Macero (Miles Davis’ manager) and Don Sebesky (master orchestrator) in New York, and we recorded with Merv Griffin in Atlantic City. My wife and I gave a concert at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Several of our albums have dropped. Recently, Kitt Moran Sings the Mike Moran Songbook can be found on YouTube.”
