Mike “Mendy” Sobol

Mike “Mendy” Sobol (LAW’78) of Eugene, Ore., writes, “I released my second speculative novel, Virtual Fire (FictionFire), on July 1, 2019. The book’s opening chapters take place during the height of Vietnam War protests on the campus of a New England university. My 2015 novel, The Speed of Darkness: A Tale of Space, Time, and Aliens Who Love to Party! (FictionFire), features a hockey-playing, spacefaring history professor and an extraterrestrial with a gambling problem. Apologies to my professors, classmates, and David E. Kelley (LAW’83); neither novel involves courtroom drama.”

From the Summer 2020 issue.
