Michael Pregot (Wheelock’85) of Brewster, Mass., published Slavery and Abolitionism on Cape Cod: A Massachusetts Incongruity (Sunbury
Press, 2024), which covers the New England slave trade from the arrival of the Puritans through the end of the Revolutionary War and the lives of
slaves, abolitionists, and illegal slavers after the practice was outlawed in 1780. “The book discusses religious views, political platforms, economic
factors, and social movements that existed during the pre-Civil War period,” Michael writes. He also is the author of Sea Captains of Cape Cod: Each Town’s Contribution to Maritime History (Sunbury Press, 2022). Email him at drmichael587@gmail.com.
