Micaela Amateau-Amato
Micaela Amateau-Amato (CFA’68) of Boalsburg, Pa., a multimedia artist, curator, lecturer, professor emerita, and an illustrator, was praised by Guggenheim Museum curator and art historian Robert Rosenblum. Rosenblum likened her work, which touches upon her Sephardic and Arabic ancestry, to the “influence of...the Catalan poetic concept of rauxa y seny: a simultaneous balance of seemingly irreconcilable contradictions.” Micaela recently exhibited work at Art Basel Miami, the Dunedin Fine Art Center in Dunedin, Fla., the L.A. Project, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the University of California at Berkeley, and the Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State.
