Melody T. McCloud
Melody T. McCloud (CAS’77, CAMED’81) of Roswell, Ga., published Black Women’s Wellness: Your “I’ve Got This!” Guide to Health, Sex & Phenomenal Living (Sounds True/Macmillan, 2023). The book addresses the unique physical and psychosocial challenges Black women face, including microaggressions. With comparative data for Black, white, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American women, the book has information about head-to-toe medical conditions, sexology, psychology, relationship concerns, and sage strategies to improve healthcare outcomes. It has received praise from Jen Ashton, an OB/GYN and chief medical correspondent to ABC News and Good Morning America, and actor Pauletta Washington (wife of Denzel Washington). “Knowledge is power,” Melody writes, “and it’s time to change the history of Black women’s health. Changing the health of Black women changes that of her family and future generations.”
