J. Roger Skelley-Watts
J. Roger Skelley-Watts (STH’90) of Vermilion, Ohio, writes that “2020 was my 30th anniversary of earning my Doctor of Ministry in church and society from your excellent School of Theology. It took me 11 years, part-time while serving churches and helping raise a family in an East Ohio United Methodist cluster, to accomplish this feat. The cluster was led by Rev. Richard Burns (STH’54,’85) of Uniontown, Ohio, who studied at BU along with Martin Luther King, Jr. (GRS’55, Hon.’59). I retired after 46 years of active ministry, which alternated between local church and faith-based social service ministries. My wife, Rev. Joan, retired as well. We have two adult children, Andrew and Kathryn. We have always been grateful to God and BU for such an excellent practical and useful education. God bless your good work, especially in these challenging times.”
