Donald Faxon
Donald Faxon (COM’86) of Mariposa, Calif., joined the National Park Service as a historical architect at Yosemite National Park. “I find myself hiking the Sierra Mountains to access the cultural resources of this World Heritage Site,” he writes. “This position follows one of the most rewarding in my life, in which I researched ethnic and civil rights sites in Los Angeles for the LAUSD [Los Angeles Unified School District] and LA County Parks, uncovering a surprising number of lost stories associated with historic locations that I hope to develop into a documentary film. To shake things up a bit, I am also an artist and over the years have taken breaks to provide production design for a film about the pirate Mary Read, and provide cover art for a number of graphic novels at DC Vertigo. Nevertheless, my heart still remains in New England, Cape Cod, and my home state of Massachusetts, and with the wonderful maritime heritage there.”
