Craig Watts
Craig Watts (STH’95) of Coral Springs, Fla., minister of Royal Palm Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), published Bowing Toward Babylon: The Nationalistic Subversion of Christian Worship in America (Cascade Books, 2017). The foreword was written by Michael Kinnamon, the former general secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA. The book historically and theologically examines the development of the symbols, songs, and gestures that churches use to celebrate America. Craig writes that he “concludes that the spirituality of American Christian nationalism does not complement the faith of the church but distorts it, hindering global Christian unity and the peaceable witness of the church in a divided world.” Email him at cmwrpcc@cs.com.
