Carmen Fields
Carmen Fields (COM’73) of Needham, Mass., a journalist, communications specialist, and philanthropist, was honored for her achievements as a pioneering Black woman in broadcast media by the Roxbury Community College Foundation at its annual fundraising event on December 3, 2020. Carmen has worked in journalism in Greater Boston for more than 30 years. She was part of the Boston Globe team that won a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of school desegregation in Boston, and has had reporting/ anchor roles at WHDH-TV and WGBH-TV. She has also served as community relations director for National Grid, press secretary for Suffolk County District Attorney Ralph C. Martin II, and director of communications for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. She is the host and producer of the WHDH public affairs program Higher Ground and is a member of the BU Black Alumni Leadership Council.
