Michael Salcman

Michael Salcman (CAS’69, MED’69) of Baltimore, Md., graduated from BU’s Six-Year Combined Program in Liberal Arts and Medical Education. A 2001 BU School of Medicine Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient, he served as chair of neurosurgery at the University of Maryland and president of the Contemporary Museum in Baltimore. After 50 years in the practice of neurosurgery, he closed his medical office in 2019. His fourth collection of poems, Shades & Graces: New Poems (Spuyten Duyvil, 2020), is the inaugural winner of the Daniel Hoffman Legacy Book Prize.
